Forklift Maintenance Technician at GZ Industries

Job Description

• Carry out daily inspection on each forklift and record the inspections carried out for future reference. 
•  Carry out the manufacturer’s recommended periodic maintenance involving but not limited to engine and transmission oil replacement, filters replacement, fork lubrication, and other tasks necessary to keep the forklifts in optimum condition for operation.
• Maintain good housekeeping and 5S of the work area while ensuring that the waste generated from all maintenance activities are disposed of in accordance with the relevant environmental standards directed by GZI HSE department.
• Communicate issues noted during maintenance and daily inspection to the supervisor or to the person that the supervisor reports to. Notify the supervisor of any part that requires repair/replacement with due importance and carried out at the earliest available opportunity.
• Prompt communication of parts procurement list to immediate superior and assisting with relevant information for such procurement. 
• Maintain a daily activity log for future use.
• Continuously track the health of each forklift in order to predict upcoming maintenance in advance. Do all the relevant preparations for such maintenance.
• Assist the forklift operators in filling fuel for the gas and diesel forklifts and keep a record for the same. Relate the fuel consumed with the hours of operation and immediately report a rise in the trend to the relevant authority. Also take necessary actions to keep the fuel consumption at par with the manufacturer’s specification.
• Keep the forklift tyres in good condition and ensure to use proper tools for carrying out maintenance tasks.
• Keep the forklifts in clean and safe condition for use.
• Documents, implements and maintains the requirements of the Quality, Food Safety, Environment, Health and Safety management systems.

Required Education

• Minimum of HND in Mechanical/Automobile Engineering or a related discipline.

Required Experience

• Minimum of 5 years work experience, 3 of which must be in a maintenance role prescribed.
• Demonstrable experience in carrying out electrical and mechanical maintenance.
