Fleet Operations Manager at GIG Logistics

Key Responsibilities:

Fleet Operations Management

• Manage daily deployment of vehicles (bikes, vans, trucks) to meet delivery schedules. 
• Ensure availability of fleet for last-mile and line-haul operations. 
• Coordinate with hub and gateway teams to ensure smooth shipment movement. 

Fleet Utilisation & Performance

• Monitor vehicle utilisation and ensure optimal allocation across routes. 
• Track key operational metrics such as deliveries per rider, turnaround time, and idle time. 
• Identify and resolve operational inefficiencies quickly. 

Maintenance & Repairs

• Implement preventive maintenance schedules for all vehicles. 
• Ensure prompt resolution of breakdowns and minimise vehicle downtime. 
• Liaise with workshops and vendors to ensure quality and timely repairs. 

Drivers & Riders Supervision

• Supervise drivers and riders to ensure productivity and discipline. 
• Monitor attendance, performance, and compliance with company policies. 
• Conduct regular training on safety, customer service, and operational standards. 

Fuel & Cost Management

• Monitor fuel usage and prevent wastage or fraud. 
• Track and manage operational expenses related to fleet activities. 
• Support initiatives to reduce cost per delivery and improve efficiency. 

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all vehicles have valid documentation and meet regulatory requirements. 
• Enforce adherence to safety standards and safe driving practices. 
• Report and investigate accidents/incidents and implement corrective actions. 

Technology & Reporting

• Utilise fleet management systems (GPS tracking, telematics) for monitoring. 
• Generate and analyse reports on fleet performance and operational KPIs. 
• Provide regular updates to the DGM, Fleet Operations. 

Vendor & Stakeholder Management

• Manage relationships with third-party transporters and maintenance vendors. 
• Ensure adherence to SLAs and service standards. 
• Collaborate with operations, customer service, and finance teams. 

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field. 
• 5–8 years’ experience in fleet or logistics operations. 
• Experience managing drivers/riders and multi-vehicle operations. 
• Familiarity with last-mile delivery operations is a strong advantage.
