    Financial Controller

    Our client, one of the leading brands in the Quick Service Restaurant Industry in Nigeria, is looking to hire a Financial Controller who will oversee the affairs of the accounts and finance department leading to accurate financial reporting including corporate accounting, regulatory (tax), budget and forecasts preparation, ensure compliance, development of internal control policies and procedures, and partner with leadership to drive strategic decision-making to support the organization’s goals. Additionally, the desired candidate will play a vital role in shaping the financial health and propelling the future success of the organization.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage all accounting operations including but not limited to Cost Accounting, Treasury, Inventory Accounting, Revenue Recognition etc.
    • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
    • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements and support month-end any year-end close process.
    • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting and research technical accounting issues for compliance.
    • Financial Systems and technology: Ensure quality control over financial transactions/reporting leading to efficient financial processes and data integrity.
    • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
    • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
    • Team leadership and mentorship: Provide mentorship to the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
    • Serves as a business partner and member of the organization strategic team and also in other roles as assigned by the board of directors

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
    • 15+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience.
    • Professional certifications (ICAN, ACCA etc.) is required.
    • Proven experience in the role at a FMCG, Hospitality, and/or related industries.

    Must have skills

    • Excellent interpersonal and business communication skills to effectively coach and mentor team members on sustainable accounting principles and financial reporting practices.
    • Project management skills to oversee the implementation and integration of new financial technologies with existing systems.
    • Ability to translate complex financial data into clear and concise reports for both technical and non-technical audiences. This includes scenario planning and sensitivity analysis to assess the impact of various market conditions on the organization’s business sustenance.
    • Proficiency in accounting software with strong analytical skills to leverage data analytics tools and extract insights from financial data related to the operations.
