Financial Controller at Proten

Job Summary

• The Financial Controller will oversee financial reporting, month-end close, accounting controls, and reporting integrity across the group, providing accurate financial insights to support business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the month-end close, ensuring timely reconciliations, balance sheet schedules, accruals, provisions, and reporting.
• Prepare management accounts, P&Ls, variance analysis, and performance commentary for leadership.
• Maintain accounting policies, Chart of Accounts, cost-centre structures, and reporting standards.
• Strengthen financial controls, processes, and audit readiness, including PBC schedules and query resolution.
• Support budgeting and rolling forecast through financial modelling and analysis.
• Partner with Internal Control on remediation of control gaps and support tax/statutory reporting.
• Work with Tech/Data to ensure the integrity ofERP, POS, e-commerce, payment, and financial data.
• Provide clear financial insights, identify risks and trends, and recommend corrective actions.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent strongly preferred.
• 10+ years’ experience in financial accounting/reporting, including month-end close and audit leadership.
• Experience in retail, e-commerce, FMCG, manufacturing, or other complex operational environments is an advantage.
• Strong ERP experience and exposure to multi-source reconciliations.
• Strong technical accounting, financial analysis, Excel/modelling, and BI skills.
• Excellent attention to detail, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong understanding of financial controls, audit, revenue, inventory, accruals, provisions, and cut-offs.

Working Conditions:

• Hybrid role with occasional travel. Flexibility is required during month-end close, budgeting, audits, and peak trading periods.
