Finance & Operations Officer at Kaplo Africa

About the Role

• We are seeking a Finance & Operations Officer to oversee key finance, accounting, audit, controls and operational activities for our client, a growing company within the financial services sector.
• The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience working in financial services, combined with solid audit experience and a strong understanding of financial controls, reconciliations, reporting and operational processes.
• This is not a general accounting role. We are specifically looking for someone who understands how finance functions within a regulated or structured financial services environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day financial and operational activities of the business.
• Prepare accurate financial reports, management accounts and financial schedules.
• Handle bank reconciliations, account reconciliations and transaction reviews.
• Monitor cash flows, payments, receivables and payables.
• Maintain proper accounting records and supporting documentation.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
• Review financial transactions to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance with internal policies.
• Develop and maintain effective financial and operational controls.
• Conduct periodic internal reviews and identify control weaknesses.
• Support internal and external audit processes and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.
• Monitor operational processes and recommend improvements where necessary.
• Ensure compliance with applicable financial policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Work closely with management and other departments to improve operational efficiency.
• Prepare reports and analysis for management decision-making.
• Identify financial, operational and control risks and escalate appropriately.
• Support other finance and operational initiatives as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Male candidate.
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline.
• ICAN qualification is mandatory.
• Minimum of 4 years relevant professional experience.
• Must have previous experience working in the financial services industry — candidates without financial services experience should not apply.
• Must have audit experience, preferably internal audit, external audit or financial controls/audit within financial services.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting and reconciliations.
• Good understanding of internal controls, risk management and audit processes.
• Strong Excel and financial analysis skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities.
• Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Must be willing to work fully onsite in Lekki, Monday–Friday.
