    Finance Officer

    JOB SUMMARY

    • Reporting to the Finance & Administration Manager, the Finance Officer is responsible for supporting day to day financial activities within the SKILLS Project.
    • He/She will be responsible for accurate financial records & timely execution of financial administration processes.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Financial Transactions

    • Creates and maintains accurate filing of all Project financial information monthly,
    • Data entry into Project accounting system for various financial transactions,
    • Manage the payroll for staff and volunteers paid fortnightly, monthly and quarterly,
    • Prints and distributes staff payslips as required by Finance Manager,
    • Prepare and submit monthly project financial reports
    • Prepare and submit monthly Tax report,
    • Process project acquittals, staff reimbursements and petty cash payments, reconciles petty cash and post entries into Project Financial system,
    • Process monthly rental payments for staff and volunteer accommodation,
    • Weekly review of bank statements, post entries into cash book,
    • Prepare the monthly balance sheet account reconciliations,
    • Prepare the monthly fund request from Ottawa,
    • Manage the process for issuing income invoices to Donors,
    • Deliver Finance introduction sessions to volunteers during ICT
    • Manage the insurance for the Country Office, including renewals, additions and claims,
    • Support the Finance Manager with; the monthly review of unrestricted, preparation of Project Total Cost files, preparation for donor audits
    • Maintain accounts payables and receivables to ensure complete and accurate records of moneys
    • Issue cheques for all accounts due and entered in the system
    • Other tasks as required from time to time.

    Other responsibilities:

    • Carry out any other duties as required by the Finance & Administration Manager, from time to time.

    SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

    Financial Administration:

    • Relevant accounting qualification at the level of a university degree and at least three (3) year relevant working experience in an office environment assisting with financial duties
    • Knowledge & understanding of Nigerian taxation processes
    • Experience of working with financial/accounting software & spreadsheets such as Excel, SAGE & Quickbook.
    • Member of ICAN (this will be considered as an asset)
    • Proven ability to create accurate & clear financial reports
    • Strong attention to detail, including the ability to identify, resolve & correct errors
    • Proven record of providing good customer service to internal & external clients
    • Ability to manage time & tight deadlines & working effectively under pressure
    • Ability to maintain integrity & confidentiality of financial data
