Field Engineer - Mechanical at 4 Quarters Consultants Limited

Responsibilities:  

Fleet – Engine Maintenance & Repair: 

• Perform scheduled servicing and preventive maintenance across the generator fleet (oil/filters, cooling, fuel, belts, valve checks). 
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults across fuel, cooling, lubrication, air/exhaust, gas-train and starting systems. 
• Support top-end and major overhauls in the workshop and record work carried out. 

Projects – Mechanical Installation & Commissioning:

• Carry out mechanical installation of gensets — positioning, mounting, alignment, cooling/radiator, exhaust and fuel/gas connections. 
• Support commissioning, first-start and run-in checks to OEM specification. 
• Work from mechanical drawings and installation manuals; support handover. 

Service & Maintenance (S&M) – Site Service: 

• Attend client sites under service contracts for scheduled servicing and breakdown response. 
• Troubleshoot mechanical site issues and carry out repairs, minimising client downtime. 
• Complete service checklists, reports and parts records. 

HSE & Quality: 

• Work to HSE standards, permit-to-work and lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) at all times. 
• Apply standard testing and QA/QC checks; report incidents and near-misses. 

Requirements

• B.Eng in Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineering — a full engineering degree is required for this role. 
• Minimum 5 years' relevant post-graduation experience in a relevant scope of work — diesel and gas generator engines across fleet, projects and service. 
• Hands-on experience with major brands (e.g. Caterpillar, Cummins, Perkins, MWM, Jenbacher, Volvo, Scania) is an advantage. 
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to sites at short notice.
