Fiber Technician at Swift Networks

Job Summary:

• We are seeking a skilled Fibre Technician to join our team.
• The Fibre Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of fibre optic networks, ensuring that all systems operate efficiently and effectively.
• The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

Installation and Configuration:

• Install and configure fibre optic systems and related equipment on customer premises.
• Conduct splice closures, terminations, and testing of fibre optics.

Maintenance and Repair:

• Perform routine maintenance on fibre optic networks to ensure optimal performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to fibre optic connectivity and network performance.

Documentation:

• Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and maintenance activities, including documenting diagrams and schematics.
• Provide detailed reports on work completed to management.

Customer Interaction:

• Communicate with clients to understand their needs and provide effective solutions.
• Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by delivering quality service and support.

Safety and Compliance:

• Adhere to safety protocols and company policies while working on-site.
• Ensure all work complies with industry standards and regulations.

Qualifications:

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in fibre optics preferred.

Experience:

• Previous experience in fibre optic installation and troubleshooting is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with fibre optic testing equipment and tools.

Skills:

• Strong technical knowledge of fibre optics and networking principles.
• Proficient in using fusion splice and OTDR equipment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

• Capable of working in various environments, including outdoor and confined spaces.
• Ability to lift heavy equipment and work on ladders or at heights.
