Location: OAS P-Kogi, OAS P-Kogi, Nigeria
Job Purpose:
The Factory Manager oversees the entire production process, ensuring efficient operations, optimum resource utilization, quality compliance, and target delivery. This role requires strong technical knowledge of PP woven sack manufacturing processes, including extrusion, weaving, lamination, printing, and stitching, combined with strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Production & Operations Management
- Plan, organize, and manage daily factory operations to meet production targets.
- Monitor all stages of PP woven sack manufacturing:
- PP extrusion/tape plant
- Circular looms
- Lamination lines
- Flexo/rotogravure printing
- Cutting, stitching & finishing
- Optimize machine running time, reduce downtime, and ensure efficient workflow.
- Implement production schedules and allocate manpower effectively.
Quality Assurance
- Ensure production quality aligns with customer specifications and industry standards.
- Coordinate with the QA team for in-process inspections and final quality checks.
- Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for any quality deviations.
Maintenance & Equipment Management
- Coordinate with the maintenance team for preventive and breakdown maintenance.
- Ensure proper upkeep of machinery, tools, and utilities (air compressors, generators, boilers, etc.).
- Monitor machine performance and recommend upgrades or replacements as needed.
People Management
- Lead, supervise, and motivate production staff, supervisors, and machine operators.
- Conduct training on safety, productivity, and quality standards.
- Resolve workforce issues and ensure a disciplined, productive work environment.
Inventory & Cost Control
- Monitor raw material usage (PP granules, masterbatch, BOPP films if used, inks, chemicals).
- Ensure optimal stock levels of raw materials, spares, and consumables.
- Control wastage and scrap, and implement cost-saving initiatives.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure the factory complies with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Implement safety protocols and ensure safe working practices.
- Oversee housekeeping and adherence to 5S/lean manufacturing principles.
Reporting & Communication
- Prepare daily/weekly/monthly production reports.
- Communicate production status, challenges, and requirements to management.
- Coordinate with sales, procurement, and logistics for smooth operations.
Job Requirements:
Education
- Minimum requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Polymer Technology, or equivalent.
- Added advantage: Strong knowledge of PP extrusion, weaving, lamination, printing, and finishing processes.
Experience
- Minimum requirement: 5–10+ years of experience in PP woven sack manufacturing; at least 3 years in a supervisory/managerial role.
- Added Advantage: Familiar with lean manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and ISO standards.
