Extrusion Supervisor at Nutri K Limited

Summry

• To strengthen our growing operations in Kano, NutriK is seeking a dedicated and experienced Extrusion Supervisor to join our Production Department.

Overall Mission
General objective:

• Ensure the effective, safe, and high‑quality operation of extrusion lines through accurate process control, adherence to production standards, maintenance of equipment parameters, and compliance with safety and quality regulations.
• The role involves monitoring extrusion parameters, managing operators, minimizing downtime, and ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, and company procedures.

Responsibilities and Tasks
Production management and Operations:

• Supervise daily extrusion operations.
• Plan and coordinate production according to the production schedule.
• Ensure production targets are achieved with minimal waste.
• Ensure smooth pre‑shift inspection, start-up, operation, documentation and shutdown of extrusion lines.
• Verify equipment readiness, PPE compliance, and housekeeping

Process Monitoring & Control:

• Operate and adjust extruder, pre‑conditioner, die, cutter, oversee dryer/cooler, mixer, grinder and packing.
• Verify formulas, hand additions, and batch compliance.
• Optimize moisture, temperature, screw configuration, throughput, and product changeovers.
• Monitor and optimize extrusion performance.
• Adjust operating parameters to maintain product specifications.
• Investigate process deviations and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and ensure 85% is achieved.
• Reduce process losses and improve machine efficiency.

Quality Control:

• Ensure products meet established quality specifications.
• Perform routine quality checks during production.
• Coordinate with Quality Assurance for sampling and testing.
• Ensure proper documentation of production and quality records.
• Investigate non-conforming products and implement corrective actions.

Raw Material Management:

• Inspect quality of raw materials.
• Plan raw material needs and ensure stock alignment.
• Control reclaiming and micro‑ingredient recovery.
• Minimize waste and rework.

Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance:

• Maintain high housekeeping standards.
• Apply health and safety procedures and PPE protocols.
• Identify and report risks, breakages, and deviations.
• Support pest control and safe‑working procedures.

Personnel Management:

• Supervise extrusion operators and assistants.
• Allocate manpower efficiently.
• Train new operators on machine operation and safety.
• Monitor employee performance and provide coaching.
• Enforce discipline and company policies

Equipment Management:

• Conduct routine inspections of extrusion equipment.Report equipment abnormalities promptly.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance with the Maintenance Department.
• Ensure proper cleaning and sanitation of extrusion equipment.
• Verify machine readiness before production

Required Skills

• Language skills – English.
• Education degree – Bachelor's degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Food Engineering, Food Science and Technology or a related field
• Work experience – 3–5 years of experience in grain processing, cereal production, or food extrusion.
• Computer skills – MS Word, MS Excel & Outlook.

Other required skills:

• Extrusion process understanding (mechanical, thermal, moisture control).
• Knowledge of HACCP, ISO, Data analysis and report writing.
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Office and ERP systems).
• Ability to operate twin-screw or single-screw extrusion systems
• Ability to adjust dies, screws, feeders, and variable parameters.
• Production planning & scheduling and Process troubleshooting.
