Supporting the Environmental Health Supervisor in the implementation, monitoring, maintaining, and trouble-shooting of Water Hygiene Sanitation activities and infrastructure in the project according to MSF protocols, standards and procedures in order to improve health and living conditions of the target population.
Accountabilities
Carrying out tasks directly related to the Environmental Health activities such as construction and maintenance of infrastructures in the project according to MSF protocols and standards concerning the operation of water supply, waste management and excreta disposal, hygiene and infection control.
Ensuring the cleaning and maintenance of the Watsan structures and when applicable, of the medical facilities.
Identifying, recruiting, training and supervising daily labourers or hygiene agents for Watsan activities
Informing the EH Supervisor of any difficulties, anomalies and problems that may affect the normal functioning of activities and tasks in his/her area of responsibility.
Assisting the Watsan Supervisor in Watsan data collection and reporting, as well as maintaining updated files and records of assigned project activities
Being responsible for equipment, tools, and consumables, verifying that they are safely used and maintained.
Reporting to EH supervisor any need of renewal and the weekly/monthly consumption.
Specific Accountabilities:
To plan with the EH Supervisor on daily needs in the Community and ATFCs
To ensure he/she follow the checklist on the needs in the ATFCs before the working days.
Ensure water are available in the ATFCs and also Back up storage available for the next working days.
Ensure the Cleaners follow the IPC protocol in carrying out their duties in the ATFC.
Ensure Vector control strategy are put in place in all the ATFCs, Stores and facilty.
Plan with the EH Supervisor to ensure the waste management is improved and also to plan on transporting the wastes in the ATFCs to the ITFCs for proper disposal in the Waste zone.
To ensure the manitenance calender for the Boreholes, and Motor pumps are followed according to the working hours following the maintenance calender.
Be prepared to respond to environmental health emergencies such as waterborne diseases outbreak or plumbing failures and take appropriate actions to mitigate the risks.
Physical fitness to perform duties that may involve lifting or manual labor.
Repair or replace faulty plumbing components as needed to prevent disruptions in water supply and maintain sanitation.
Provide Support and Trainings if needed on ‘Outreach activities’: Chlorination, Ambulance, Environmental Decontamination, Burials etc.
