Engineer - CloudOps at MTN Nigeria

Reports To: Manager - Cloud Support

Mission

• Provide day-2 operational support for cloud-hosted infrastructure services and workloads across hyperscaler, private cloud, and MTN Cloud environments by monitoring health, executing standard changes, restoring service, supporting incidents and problems, and maintaining stable, secure, and supportable production operations.

Description

• Works within approved operational procedures, support models, access controls, monitoring standards, and change governance.
• Executes day-2 support activities for cloud-hosted workloads, including monitoring, incident response, standard changes, and recovery support.
• Maintains support documentation, runbooks, and operational records to support effective service delivery.
• Monitor cloud-hosted services and respond to alerts, incidents, and service requests in line with approved support processes.
• Execute standard operational tasks for supported cloud workloads, including health checks, service restarts, basic recovery actions, and routine support activities
• Update tickets, support records, and operational documentation to ensure accurate tracking and effective handover where required
• Support implementation of approved changes and planned maintenance activities for cloud-supported services.
• Assist in identifying recurring faults, known errors, and operational improvement opportunities across supported environments.
• Work with internal teams, vendors, and service owners to follow up on issues requiring escalation or additional support action.

Requirements

Education:

• First degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline
• Relevant cloud or infrastructure support certification will be an advantage
• Fluent in English.

Experience:

• 3-7 years’ experience which includes
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in infrastructure, cloud operations, or production support
• Hands-on exposure to monitoring, incident handling, change execution, and service restoration
• Experience supporting Azure, private cloud, virtualization, or enterprise hosting environments
• Working knowledge of backup, recovery, patching, and operational support tools.
