Electrical Engineer (Cashew Processing Industry) at Ascentech Services Limited

Job Summary

• The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the maintenance, reliability, troubleshooting, and optimization of all electrical systems and equipment within the cashew processing plant.
• The role requires strong technical expertise in electrical power distribution, industrial automation, motor control systems, instrumentation, and plant maintenance to ensure maximum equipment availability, operational efficiency, product quality, and safety compliance.
• The successful candidate will support preventive and corrective maintenance activities, troubleshoot electrical and automation-related issues across cashew processing operations, lead electrical improvement projects, and ensure the safe and reliable operation of all plant electrical infrastructure and utilities.

Key Responsibilities
Electrical Maintenance & Troubleshooting:

• Perform preventive, predictive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on plant electrical equipment and systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical faults involving motors, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, PCCs, VFDs, generators, conveyors, sorting machines, dryers, shelling equipment, and packaging line machinery.
• Ensure reliable operation of HT/LT electrical systems, electrical panels, and utility equipment serving cashew processing operations.
• Conduct root cause analysis of electrical failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to enhance plant reliability, productivity, and energy efficiency.

Power Distribution & Plant Utilities:

• Maintain and monitor power distribution systems, including transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and protection systems.
• Ensure efficient operation of diesel generators, compressors, boilers, air handling systems, and backup power infrastructure.
• Support energy management initiatives to optimize power consumption across processing lines.
• Participate in testing, commissioning, and startup activities for new electrical systems and production equipment.

Automation & Production Support:

• Support troubleshooting of PLCs, instrumentation devices, sensors, transmitters, weighing systems, and control systems used in cashew processing operations.
• Work closely with production teams to minimize downtime and improve equipment performance.
• Assist in process optimization and automation projects aimed at improving productivity, yield, and product quality.
• Review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings to support maintenance and project execution.

Engineering Projects & Documentation:

• Support plant expansion projects, equipment installations, and electrical upgrades.
• Utilize AutoCAD Electrical to read, interpret, and update electrical drawings and technical documentation.
• Participate in equipment erection, testing, commissioning, and acceptance activities.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and technical documentation.

Spare Parts & Inventory Management:

• Identify and maintain critical electrical spare parts inventory.
• Monitor stock levels of electrical components and ensure timely procurement.
• Assist in vendor evaluation and technical specification reviews for electrical materials and equipment.

Safety, Compliance & Team Collaboration:

• Ensure compliance with company HSE policies, electrical safety standards, food safety regulations, and statutory requirements.
• Enforce safe work practices, lockout/tagout procedures, and electrical isolation protocols.
• Train and guide technicians on electrical maintenance best practices and troubleshooting techniques.
• Participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Qualification:

• Bachelor's Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Technical Skills
• Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems and maintenance practices.

 Good understanding of:

• Power Distribution Systems.
• MCC & PCC Systems.
• HT/LT Electrical Installations.
• Transformers and Switchgear.
• Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
• Industrial Motors and Motor Controls.
• Diesel Generators and Backup Power Systems.
• PLC and Industrial Automation Systems.
• Process Equipment Used in Cashew Processing Plants.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD Electrical.

Experience:

• 4-7 years of experience in industrial electrical maintenance.
• Must have at least 2 years of experience in the cashew processing industry.
