    Education Technical Assistant (Data Analyst)

    Description

    • NRC is looking for an Education Technical Assistant for our Field Office in Maiduguri, Borno State - Nigeria
    • The purpose of the Education Assistant is to Implement the NRC Education program in line with NRC's Education strategy.

    Background
    NRC initiated country operations in Nigeria in June 2015, in order to respond to the critical and increasing needs in the country. NRC currently has a full team based in Maiduguri and a coordination office in Abuja. NRC is currently providing services across various sectors namely; Shelter and Non-Food Items (NFI); Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion (WASH); Food Security; and Information, Counselling and Legal Assistance (ICLA), Education, and recently Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) in order to address identified humanitarian needs.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
    • Assist with the implementation of the program portfolio according to the plan of action
    • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
    • Assists Education Programme staff develop a baseline and end-line data for each project site with support from Education Coordinator/PM
    • Monitor and quality assurance spot checks on each project site for proper output and outcome monitoring
    • Coordinate with Education program staff on tools development, data collection, scrubbing, and analysis
    • Development of case studies to capture qualitative outputs of the project
    • Work with Education Programme staff/CO M& E to design and adopt reporting formats required by the NRC system (GORS).
    • Supervise data input into the GORS and processes for checking data quality with M &E
    • Prepare progress reports and other documents as required with support from Line Manager
    • Perform any other task assigned by the Line Manager.

    Qualifications

    • At least 1-year experience in similar positions
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience from working in a humanitarian/recovery context
    • Degree or Diploma in a relevant field such as Statistics, Development Studies, etc.
    • Experience with surveys, studies, data entry, management, and analysis a must.
    • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
    • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
    • Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
    • Managing resources to optimize results
    • High-level competency in computer skills (data analysis software e.g. SPSS, or similar)
    • Fluency in English, both written and verbal
    • Fluency in Hausa, Kanuri or more of the national/regional languages will be an added advantage.

    We Can Offer

    • Commencement: March 2020
    • Duration: Nine (10) Months (renewable)
    • Salary/benefits: According to NRC’s general directions (Grade Level 4 Step 1)
    • Duty stations: Maiduguri, Borno State - North-East Nigeria with 30% frequent travels. Travel outside duty stations is dependent on changing security conditions, especially for certain roads in the area.
    • An approved health certificate will be requested before the contract start.
