Driver at Foundation for Sustainable Smallholder Solutions (FSSS)

Position Overview

The driver supports FSSS’s programs by ensuring safe, timely, and efficient transportation of staff, beneficiaries, and materials. The role also involves keeping the vehicle in good condition and following all safety and organizational guidelines.

Key Responsibilities 

1. Drive staff, guests, and program participants to approved destinations.
2. Maintain a clean, roadworthy vehicle at all times.
3. Conduct daily vehicle checks: fuel level, oil, water, tires, and general condition.
4. Report mechanical issues immediately and follow up on repairs.
5. Keep an updated logbook of trips, mileage, and fuel usage.
6. Ensure adherence to traffic rules and FSSS’s safety policies.
7. Support logistics activities such as picking up supplies, delivering documents, and helping with field operations.
8. Handle the vehicle with care and secure all items being transported.
9. Respect confidentiality of information heard or handled during trips.

Knowledge and Experience 

1. Minimum of SSCE/WAEC.
2. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
3. At least 3–5 years of driving experience, preferably with an NGO or corporate organization.
4. Good knowledge of local routes and road networks.
5. Ability to maintain calm under pressure and drive in challenging environments.
6. Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance.
7. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
8. High level of integrity and reliability.
