Drip Irrigation System Automation Engineer (Expatriate Position) at HRLeverage Africa

Location: Mokwa, Niger

Duties and Responsibilities

• Installing the drip irrigation system in the farm.
• Advice on proper drip irrigation systems.
• Repairs PVC pipes, valves and sprinkler heads and other simple machinery.
• Installation of pumps and turbines.
• Plan and suggest on efficient drip irrigation systems.
• Carry out field surveys on farms to understand the landscape before installing the drip irrigator.
• Design and make the drip irrigation system that will best suit the area.
• Help in improving the water and soil conservation methods in the farm.
• Advice on changing of topography if need be.
• Teach the farmers on the various types of drip irrigations and which ones will give them high yields.
• Derive and create information that will help farmers irrigate their farms.

Education and Qualifications.

• At least be a high school graduate, any trade or professional training in agriculture and framing is an added advantage.
• Three years experience in the field is an added advantage.

Skills and Specifications:

• Good understanding of soils and water conservation.
• Ability to perform strenuous labor in all climatic conditions.
• Ability to establish and maintain good and healthy working conditions with fellow farm workers.
• Physical strength and agility to be able to work with the heavy drip irrigation equipment.
• Be able to read and interpret instructions and write simple reports.
• Be able to work in noisy environment and have good and sharp listening skills.
• Have good and strong visual abilities.
