Diving Supervisor at Scruples Resources

The Diving Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising commercial diving activities associated with construction, inspection, maintenance, repair, and other underwater operations. The role ensures that diving activities are properly planned, adequately resourced, safely executed, and carried out in accordance with approved procedures, applicable diving standards, project requirements, and client specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise commercial diving operations in accordance with approved diving plans and project requirements.
• Coordinate diving personnel, equipment, tools, and support resources required for diving activities.
• Conduct pre-dive meetings, toolbox talks, and diving briefings with the diving team.
• Review risk assessments, diving procedures, method statements, and emergency arrangements before diving activities commence.
• Verify the readiness, suitability, and condition of diving equipment and associated support systems.
• Ensure appropriate pre-dive checks and equipment inspections are completed.
• Supervise divers and diving support personnel during underwater operations.
• Monitor diving activities and maintain effective communication with divers and surface support personnel.
• Ensure diving operations are conducted within approved environmental and operational limits.
• Coordinate with marine, construction, engineering, inspection, HSE, and other project personnel.
• Monitor weather, sea conditions, visibility, currents, water depth, and other factors that may affect diving operations.
• Ensure appropriate decompression, dive profiles, and applicable operational requirements are followed.
• Monitor diver fitness and readiness for assigned diving activities.
• Ensure diving logs, personnel records, equipment inspection records, and operational documentation are properly maintained.
• Respond appropriately to diving emergencies and implement established emergency and rescue procedures.
• Coordinate emergency response, recovery, and medical arrangements when required.
• Stop or suspend diving activities where unsafe conditions or deviations from approved requirements are identified.
• Report diving incidents, equipment failures, unsafe conditions, and operational issues through the appropriate channels.
• Participate in incident investigations and corrective action activities where required.
• Ensure proper maintenance, storage, and readiness of diving equipment and support systems.
• Monitor compliance with applicable diving regulations, standards, procedures, and project requirements.
• Prepare daily diving reports and other required operational documentation.
• Provide technical and operational guidance to diving personnel.
• Support project planning, scheduling, and coordination of diving activities.

Required Qualifications

• Recognized qualification/certification as a commercial diver and/or diving supervisor appropriate to the scope of work.
• Valid certification from a recognized commercial diving certification or regulatory body.
• Appropriate offshore/marine safety and medical certifications as required for the project.
• Current commercial diver medical fitness certification.
• Relevant technical qualification in commercial diving, marine operations, underwater engineering, or a related discipline is an advantage.
• Good knowledge of commercial diving operations, diving equipment, underwater work practices, and diving safety requirements.

Experience

• Significant experience in commercial diving operations.
• Demonstrable experience supervising commercial diving teams.
• Experience in underwater construction, inspection, maintenance, repair, marine works, or related activities.
• Experience planning and coordinating diving operations.
• Experience working with diving support vessels, surface-supplied diving systems, or other relevant diving systems is an advantage.
• Experience working in marine and construction project environments.
