    Diving Superintendent

    Role Overview

    • The Diving Superintendent is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant management of all diving systems & operations for Natony Limited.
    • This includes overseeing both offshore and nearshore projects, ensuring adherence to international diving guidance, codes, and managing diving teams for optimal project performance and safety.

    Core Responsibilities

    • Lead and coordinate diving operations across projects, overseeing both technical and safety requirements.
    • Documentation and Compliance: Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation that meets IMCA standards, ensuring all records, reports, and procedures align with industry best practices and regulatory expectations.
    • Update and enhance Diving Systems: Take full responsibility for the continual improvement and updating of Natony Limited’s Diving Systems and Management processes, ensuring alignment with the latest international and industry standards.
    • Compliance and Regulatory Oversight: Ensure strict adherence to IOGP 411 (Recommended Practices for Diving Operations), IMCA (International Marine Contractors Association), ADC (Association of Diving Contractors) standards, IOC diving regulations, and the Mineral Oils (Safety) Regulations 1997.
    • Equipment Management: Supervise the maintenance and deployment of all diving equipment, guaranteeing reliability and operational readiness.
    • HAZARD IDENTIFICATION AND RISK ANALYSIS (HIRA): Conduct thorough hazard identifications, risk analyses, and risk assessments for each operation, implementing comprehensive preventive measures.
    • IMCA Membership Process: Oversee the continuation of the company’s registration process for IMCA membership to ensure compliance and industry recognition.
    • Collaborative Equipment Oversight: Work closely with the Dive Technician to ensure that all diving plant and equipment undergo periodic examination, testing, and certification in line with IMCA D 018 REV.2 standards.

    Qualifications

    • Extensive Experience: A minimum of 20 years of offshore diving experience, with at least 10 years in a supervisory role. Strong background in the development and management of essential diving documentation.
    • International Standards Knowledge: Solid understanding of Shell Diving Center of Excellence (DCoE) requirements and other IOC-specific diving standards, especially for operations within Nigeria.

    Certifications:

    • IMCA Air Diving Supervisor Certification
    • HSE Commercial Diving Certification or an equivalent recognized by the Health and Safety Executive
    • OPITO BOSIET (Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training)
    • NEBOSH or IOSH Certification in Health and Safety Management is highly advantageous
    • ADC Diving Supervisor Certification (preferred)
    •  IMCA Diver Medic Technician (DMT) certification
    • Current offshore medical and survival certificates

    Technical Skills

    • Expertise in Diving Systems and Subsea Equipment: Highly skilled in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of advanced diving systems and subsea equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
    • Proficient in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT): Extensive knowledge in NDT methodologies for underwater inspection and repair, including effective application in complex subsea environments.
    • Comprehensive Understanding of Industry Standards: Well-versed in IMCA D 014 (Diving Operations) and D 020 (Diver Medical Requirements) standards, ensuring strict compliance with international best practices and safety protocols.

    Documentation Preparation

    • Adept at preparing and managing documentation in accordance with IMCA acceptable standards, ensuring all records are accurate, compliant, and readily accessible for audits and reviews.
