Dispatch Rider at Lagos Executive Cardiovascular Centre

Job Summary:

The Dispatch Rider is responsible for the safe, timely, and confidential delivery and collection of documents, medical items, laboratory samples, medicines, and  supplies within and outside LECC Hospital. The role supports smooth hospital operations by ensuring efficient logistics and adherence to safety and hospital protocols.

Key Responsibilities

Dispatch & Delivery Duties

• Deliver and collect official documents, files, and parcels within hospital departments and to external locations (labs, vendors, offices, partners).
• Transport laboratory samples, medicines, and small medical supplies as assigned, ensuring safety and integrity.
• Ensure timely delivery in line with assigned schedules and priorities.
• Obtain acknowledgements/signatures for delivered items when required.

Vehicle & Equipment Handling

• Operate hospital-assigned motorcycle safely and responsibly.
• Conduct daily pre-use checks (fuel, brakes, lights, tires, horn).
• Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of the motorcycle.
• Report mechanical issues or damage immediately to the supervisor.

Compliance & Safety

• Follow hospital policies, infection prevention, and confidentiality standards.
• Adhere strictly to traffic rules and road safety regulations.
• Use appropriate PPE when handling medical items or samples.
• Ensure secure handling of confidential hospital documents.

Records & Reporting

• Maintain daily trip logs (time, destination, mileage, purpose).
• Record fuel usage and submit logs as required.
• Report delays, incidents, accidents, or unusual occurrences promptly.

Support Duties

• Assist administrative and facility teams with errands as assigned.
• Support emergency dispatch needs when required.
• Perform other duties related to logistics and support services as assigned by management.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Experience

• Minimum of secondary school education.
• Valid motorcycle riding license.
• Minimum 2–4 years’ experience as a dispatch rider or courier (hospital or healthcare setting preferred).

Skills & Competencies

• Good knowledge of local routes and traffic regulations.
• Ability to read and understand basic instructions and documents.
• Strong time management and reliability.
• Basic record-keeping skills.
• Professional attitude and good communication skills.
