    Development Manager

    Our Client, an American NGO is seeking an experienced DEVELOPMENT MANAGER for a portfolio of current and prospective donors who will advance the necessary cultivation, solicitation, proposal preparation, and leadership activities necessary to maintain and grow the organization’s fundraising efforts in Nigeria. The Development Manager will lead the implementation of development and fundraising strategy in Nigeria and increase the organization’s contributed revenue with a focus on grants and/or unrestricted gifts from foundations, corporations, government, and individuals.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Conduct pipeline research on prospective donors to prioritize fundraising opportunities. Donors include institutional, corporate, and family foundations, government funding programs, and individual donors.
    • Collaborate with programmatic initiatives and internal departments to effectively design fundraising programs and proposals.
    • Oversee and manage a multi-year calendar of funding deadlines including Letters of Inquiry, proposals, reports, and other key major donor communications.
    • Write grant proposals and coordinate the grant application process.
    • Compile concept papers, proposals, and reports that effectively communicate the organization’s mission, vision, and key activities that highlight the connection and alignment to donor interests and priorities.
    • Build a healthy portfolio of restricted and unrestricted grants and gifts to grow the organization’s impact.
    • Creation and implementation of strategies to grow the business
    • Delivery of top-quality services to customers across all service offerings of the Company
    • Attainment of targeted increase in revenue from grants and donations
    • Work closely with the Country Director to develop and implement the fundraising strategy to meet the needs of the organization’s annual and mid- long-term goals
    • Required Competencies The post holder must be able to demonstrate appropriate skills and experience which will enable him/her to deliver against the main purpose and key responsibilities of the role. More specifically, the following competencies are required to succeed in the role:
    • Entrepreneurial, innovative, and demonstrates creativity in fundraising approach.
    • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated interpersonal communication skills (especially as it relates to donor management).
    • Superior organizational and time management skills; detail oriented.
    • Ability to grasp new concepts quickly, absorb loads of complex information, and condense it for donors and other audiences to understand.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in an environment of multiple projects/tasks.

    Professional & Academic Qualifications

    Minimum of 5-8 years relevant working experience preferably nonprofit programs and fundraising · Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree from any recognized institution · Should belong to relevant marketing/ business development professional bodies.
