    Designated Person Ashore

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for the maintenance and improvement of the Company’s HSE Management System;
    • Responsible for any correspondence in relation to the ISM Code;
    • Responsible for the verification of proper compliance with HSE MS requirements through the organisation of internal audits and inspections, and for ensuring that corrective actions, as required, are applied, followed up and gradually closed out;
    • Responsible for preparation of reports and results from internal and external audits to be presented to Management;
    • Acts as a liaison between the Vessel’s Management and the Company;
    • Monitors the safety and pollution prevention aspects of the operation of each ship, and to ensure that adequate resources and shore-based support are applied, as required;
    • Responsible for notification of urgent safety-related issues within company Ships/Vessels;
    • To periodically liaise with Crewing/Manning Agency/HR Department, Operational, Technical and QHSE Management to discuss and arrange as applicable for training and other requirements applicable to shore based personnel;
    • To assist and advise Management with all vessel training requirements, information, issues and advice regarding the safety management system;
    • To administer, monitor and report on the effectiveness of the HSE MS implementation;
    • Instruct all employees on care and use of the HSE MS;
    • Bring deficiencies in safety and environmental protection to the attention of every employee, especially responsible Managers and Masters;
    • Work out appropriate corrective actions and enforce their implementation;
    • Have a voice in the setting-up of training plans, continued training and employee training

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Environmental Science, Marine, Engineering, HSE Management).
    • 7-10 years of experience in a similar role within the maritime or related industry.
    • In-depth knowledge of HSE regulations, ISM Code, and industry best practices.
    • Proven experience in conducting internal and external audits.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective liaison with various stakeholders.
    • Ability to independently identify and report deficiencies, with a proactive approach to corrective action enforcement.
    • Familiarity with administration and reporting requirements related to HSE management systems.
    • Relevant certifications are highly desirable.
