Cavisa Design was established in March, 2018 after months of market research in the furniture industry. It came to our notice that most local furniture stores sell low budget and/or poor quality imported furniture at ridiculously high prices. At Cavisa Design, every piece of furniture is made at our local factory, no subcontractors nor imports (except on strict orders by the client).

    Design Architect

    Location: Ikeja, Lagos

    Job Description

    • In this role, you will be responsible for creating designs for new projects, alterations and redevelopments by sketching and creating blueprints, prototypes and models for production through the use of computer-aided design (CAD) programs.
    • Design architects use their specialist construction knowledge and high-level drawing skills to design furniture that is functional, safe, sustainable and aesthetically pleasing.
    • They stay involved throughout the construction process, adapting their plans according to budget constraints, manufacturer, or client needs. As such, they operate as part of an overall project design team, working closely with a range of manufacturing professionals.

    Job Duties

    • Performs research and maintain a working knowledge of trends and new developments in the interior design and architecture worlds.
    • Generate sample designs using computer-aided design (CAD), card models, sketches or hard prototypes.
    • Designs interior spaces, including permanent architectural details and temporary elements.
    • Selects design strategies and colour palettes to create cohesive and aesthetically pleasing environments.
    • Prepare detailed final designs
    • Find ways to improve furniture items already manufactured
    • Discuss designs with clients for custom ordering or with manufacturers
    • Select suitable materials, which might include wood, metal, plastic and textiles
    • Liaise with craftsmen or production department team about the process of construction or manufacture
    • Establishes project timelines, coordinates work activity and estimate project costs
    • Conferring with production, design, and sales personnel to obtain design suggestions and customer orders.
    • Sketching freehand design of article.
    • Obtaining approval from customers, or authorized company officials.
    • Preparing blueprints containing manufacturing specifications, such as dimensions, wood type, and upholstery fabrics to be used in manufacturing article.
    • Designing custom pieces or styles according to a specific period or country.

    Requirements

    • B.Sc Degree in Architecture or any relating field such as: Furniture Technology, Furniture Design and Making, Product & Furniture Design.
    • 2 - 5 years of proven experience in architecture or furniture manufacturing.
    • Sound experience in 2D and 3D designs.
    • Sound experience in the use of AUTOCAD.
    • Ability to create a cut list.
    • Experience in SKETCHUP, REVIT, MAX CUT will be an advantage.
    • A portfolio of your work is required.

    • Manual dexterity and an eye for detail.
    • An understanding of computer-aided design (CAD) and other technological advances.

    • A desire to keep up to date with market trends and new ideas.
    • Organizational, project management, and planning skills, including the ability to juggle multiple tasks.
    • An awareness of the specific environmental and social impact of your projects.

    Salary
    N150,000 - N170,000 / Month.
