    Database Operations Engineer

    Job Objectives

    • Are you passionate about maintaining high-performing, secure, and reliable database systems? Do you enjoy solving complex technical challenges and ensuring data availability and integrity?
    • We are seeking a skilled Database Operations Engineer to join our technology team and contribute to the management, optimization, and maintenance of our database environments. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and security of our MySQL databases that support critical business applications.
    • You will play an active role across the database operations lifecycle from system setup and monitoring to performance tuning, backup and recovery, and ongoing support while collaborating closely with development, infrastructure, and support teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and efficient data services.
    • This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who is passionate about operational excellence, continuous improvement, and building resilient data systems that drive business success.

    Key Roles & Responsibilities

    • Install, configure, and maintain MySQL databases
    • Monitor database health, performance, and capacity
    • Perform query optimization and index tuning
    • Manage backups, restores, and disaster recovery processes
    • Configure and maintain replication setups
    • Troubleshoot database-related incidents and outages
    • Enforce database security, access controls, and best practices
    • Collaborate with developers to improve database performance and design
    • Support database upgrades and schema changes.

    Required Qualifications & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
    • A minimum of 6 years hands-on experience administering MySQL databases
    • Strong understanding of InnoDB, indexes, and query execution plans
    • Experience with replication and high-availability setups
    • Experience working in Linux environments
    • Knowledge of backup and recovery strategies.

    Required Skill & Competencies:

    • MySQL performance tuning
    • Replication and failover concepts
    • Monitoring and alerting
    • SQL troubleshooting
    • Data integrity and consistency management
    • Experience with performance schema
    • Knowledge of MySQL security and audit logging
    • Experience with cloud-hosted MySQL (AWS RDS, Azure)
    • Familiarity with automation or scripting.
