Data Scientists at Sydani Group

Key Responsibilities

• Data mining or extracting usable data from valuable data sources
• Use machine learning tools to select features, create and optimize classifiers
• Carry out pre-processing of structured and unstructured data
• Enhance data collection procedures to include all relevant information for developing analytic systems
• Presenting information using data visualization techniques
• Process, cleansing, and validating the integrity of data to be used for analysis
• Analyze complex datasets using advanced statistical methods Develop and design appropriate research methodology for projects
• Present results in a professional and statistically acceptable standards

Requirements

• Minimum four years of experience as a Biostatistician, Statistician, Data Scientist or Data Analyst
• Experience in analyzing survey datasets such as NDHS, MICS, IPUMS, etc.
• Understanding of machine-learning and operations research
• Knowledge of SPSS, STATA, R, SQL, Power BI and Python. Most preferably STATA and R software. Familiarity with Scala, Java or C++ is an asset
• Experience using business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau) and data frameworks (e.g. Hadoop)
• Skillful in report writing with at least three (3) publications in peer- reviewed journals as evidence
• Proficiency in making presentations
• MSc., BSc., in Biostatistics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field
• MSc in Biostatistics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science or another quantitative field is preferred
• Analytical mindset and research experience
• Strong Mathematics, Econometrics and Modelling skills (e.g. statistics, algebra)
• Problem-solving aptitude

• Ability to interpret data analyses.
• Experienced with high - level research and publications in peer reviewed journals
• Skillful in using any of the software: R, STATA, SPSS, Python, Machine Learning
