Data Scientist at GVA Partners

Our client requires the service of a highly skilled Data Scientist. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the collection, storage and interpretation of data for businesses. Their duties include sifting through data points to create organized categories, comparing data points to current company processes and writing reports outlining business predictions or proposals.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collecting data through means such as analysing business results or by setting up and managing new studies
• Transferring data into a new format to make it more appropriate for analysis
• Creating new, experimental frameworks to collect data
• Building tools to automate data collection
• Searching through large data sets for usable information
• Creating reports and presentations for business uses
• Correlating similar data to find actionable results

SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS

• Strong mathematical & numeracy skills
• Good understanding of databases such as MySQL Server, Google Big Query
• Understanding of reporting & data visualisation tools such as Business Objects, PowerBi, R, Weka, NumPy, MatLab and Tableau.
• Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop and Spark.
• Understanding of website scripts such as XML, Javascript, JSON, Rest
• Understanding of ETL framework and ETL tools including Alteryx and Microsoft SSIS
• Digital marketing analytics tools including Google 360, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Adobe Marketing Suite
• Excellent analytical skills - the ability to identify trends, patterns and insights from data
• Google Data Engineer or Google Machine Learning certification is added advantage.

EXPERIENCE

• B.Sc in Computer Science, Engineering or any related field.
• 5 years’ experience post NYSC in a professional environment.
