Purpose of the Role
The Data/Assessment Officer is responsible for managing and analysing student assessment data to support evidence-based decision-making and improve academic outcomes. This role involves coordinating the collection, processing, and reporting of assessment results, ensuring data accuracy and integrity, and providing insights that inform teaching strategies and school performance. The Data/Assessment Officer works closely with academic staff, management, and external stakeholders to maintain effective assessment practices aligned with the school’s curriculum and standards.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Data Management and Analysis
- Collect, organize, and maintain student assessment data from various sources and ensure data integrity and confidentiality.
- Develop and manage databases and data systems to track academic progress and performance trends.
- Analyze assessment results to identify patterns, strengths, and areas for improvement across classes, subjects, and cohorts.
- Produce regular reports and visualizations to inform academic leadership, teachers, and stakeholders.
Assessment Coordination
- Coordinate and schedule formative and summative assessments in line with the academic calendar.
- Liaise with teaching staff to ensure timely administration of assessments and adherence to school policies.
- Support the development and implementation of standardized assessment tools and procedures.
- Monitor compliance with assessment guidelines and ensure fairness and consistency in testing practices.
Reporting and Communication
- Prepare detailed assessment reports for internal and external stakeholders, including parents, teachers, and regulatory bodies.
- Present data insights during academic meetings to guide curriculum planning and intervention strategies.
- Communicate effectively with teachers to support data-driven teaching practices and interventions.
- Prepare accurate school transcripts for students’ university applications and school transfers
Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Ensure that all assessment data collection and handling comply with relevant data protection and safeguarding policies.
- Support internal audits, external inspections, examination boards related to academic data and assessments.
- Collaborate with the academic leadership team to implement continuous improvements in assessment processes.
Professional Development and Collaboration
- Stay updated on best practices and innovations in educational assessment and data management.
- Participate in training sessions and contribute to capacity building for staff on assessment literacy and data usage.
- Ensure consistent grading despite variations in difficulty using the Uniform Mark Scale as well as supporting staff in reporting grades ar IGCSE and IAL

Assessment Readiness and Timeliness
- All scheduled assessments are conducted on time and in accordance with the academic calendar.
Data Accuracy and Integrity
- Maintain at least 98% accuracy in assessment records and databases with no critical data entry errors.
Reporting Efficiency
- 90% of assessment reports are generated and distributed within the agreed timeframes after each assessment cycle.
Stakeholder Feedback
- At least 85% positive feedback from academic staff and leadership on the relevance, clarity, and usefulness of reports and insights.
Compliance and Safeguarding
- 100% adherence to data protection and safeguarding policies, with zero breaches or incidents.
Support to Academic Staff
- Provide at least one data-driven performance insight per term to each department to support teaching strategies and interventions.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
- Proficiency in data management tools (e.g., Excel, Google Sheets, or data visualization platforms).
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Statistics, Data Management, Psychology, or a related field.
- Prior experience in data analysis, assessment coordination, or educational research preferred.
- Familiarity with British or international school curriculum and assessment systems is an advantage.
- Knowledge of data protection and safeguarding best practices.
