    Crop Specialist

    Overview

    • The Crop Specialist is responsible for the company's crop product category, including vendor/supplier relationships, inventory forecasting, revenue generation and order fulfilment.
    • This role requires a deep understanding of the working principles of crops, tools and equipment, supply chain, account management, and the ability to effectively work in an agile e-commerce environment.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure the company has a portfolio of high-quality crop production inputs and products.
    • Accurately forecast demand for products in the crop category and manage warehouse inventory to meet customer demand.
    • Develop and execute vendor acquisition strategies, conduct market research, negotiate contracts, and manage relationships with new and existing vendors
    • Ensure the category has a diverse and reliable network of vendors to meet business needs while maintaining cost-effectiveness and quality standards.
    • Meet or exceed revenue targets within the expected commission rate for the crop category.
    • Oversee relationships with vendors to ensure timely and accurate delivery of products to customers.
    • Ensure timely and accurate order fulfilment, including managing product availability, delivery times, and product quality.
    • Collaborate with the marketing units to develop and execute marketing strategies to increase sales and market share in the crop category.
    • Work with the Sales team to address customer inquiries and concerns related to the crop product category and ensure customer satisfaction.
    • Negotiate contracts and pricing with vendors to drive profitability for the business.
    • Monitor vendor performance and provide regular feedback to improve their performance.
    • Analyze sales data to identify trends and opportunities for growth, and make recommendations for improvement.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Botany, Crop Science, Plant Science or a related field
    • 2+ years of experience in a similar role, including experience in e-commerce
    • Strong understanding of crops, tools and machinery and market trends
    • Strong understanding of supply chain and agricultural value chain
    • Ability to effectively manage a fast-paced e-commerce environment
    • Strong negotiation and relationship management skills
    • Knowledge of the agriculture sector and understanding of customer needs and challenges
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with ERP systems is a plus.
