    Consultancy : Business Development and External Engagement Advisor

    Contract Duration: 18 Months with the possibility of extension

    Job Summary:

    The Business Development & External Engagement Advisor will contribute to Ipas Nigeria’s success by providing highly complex fundraising support to the Country Director. Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Country Director, the Business Development & External Engagement Advisor ensures the effective and efficient functioning of the fundraising initiative led by the Country Director, significantly contributing to the development of new program partnerships and funding opportunities. S/He must maintain complete confidentiality in all aspects of assignments, maintenance of protocol procedures, management of information flow and follow-up on deadlines and commitments made. S/he expected to develop and implement fundraising strategies including new partnership and funder liaison. Establishing and managing relationships, both internally and externally, is a key element of this job. Furthermore, S/He will support effort to advance strategic business priorities and position Ipas as a preferred Organization within the SRHR space in Nigeria.

    Primary  Responsibilities

    • Work closely with the Country Director, and other members of the team to support the development of concept notes for projects responding to immediate or anticipated funding opportunities that fit Ipas Nigeria’s strategic priorities and respond to donor priorities.
    • Develop and maintain appropriate business development tools and processes as needed
    • Raise awareness about Ipas Nigeria’s initiatives and inspire broader engagement on the issues
    • Increase brand visibility
    • Ensure quality proposal development in compliance with donor requirements and the organization’s Policy, Procedures and Practices.
    • Manage Ipas Nigeria’s Business Development activities to align with the organization’s Policy, Procedures, Practices, and strategic plan.
    • Any other tasks assigned.

    Key Success Metrics 

    •  No. of concept notes developed for immediate or anticipated funding opportunities.
    • Business tools developed
    • Develop and implement donor engagement strategy plan
    • Develop and maintain a database of existing and potential new partners/donor.
    • No. of metrics established and monitored to measure the impact of stakeholder engagements.
    • No. of network/association participation to communicate and amplify the organization’s messages and garner information to improve operations and / or programming.
    • Drive coordination for project design and proposals
    • No. of lessons identified that inform planning and the design of new programs; ensure these are considered and/or input into new proposals.
    • Seek out and facilitate input of technical advice from relevant team members to ensure that the Nigeria program benefits from global expertise, while remaining relevant to the local context for new proposals
    • No. of successful proposals developed
    • Partner and Competitor analysis is conducted annually.
    • No. of strategic collaborations established within and outside the industry and annual reports on the impacts of these partnerships.
    • Quarterly reports on new and emerging donors, trends, and funding vehicles.
    • Annual Analysis of current portfolio and identification of trends and approaches to inform improved funding strategy.
    • No. of donor meetings participated to gather intelligence and foster long-term collaboration and engagement.
    •  Follow up on deadlines, commitments made, actions taken, and coordination of collection and submission of the reports to the Country Director

    Minimum Requirements

    • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in related field
    • 8-10 years of progressively responsible program implementation, Proposal development, and program experience is required at the national or international level.
    • Demonstrated experience gained in international development, preferably to include managing, implementing and/or supporting international development programmes.
    • Successful track record of securing multiple project grants from bilateral and multilateral donors, trusts  and foundations and other new donors
    • Significant expertise in all areas of new business development including strategy, forging partnerships,  negotiating teaming agreements, project design, theory of change construction, proposal writing, budget development, managing donor, partner relationships and project reporting.
    • Demonstrated experience working in cross-cultural and low-resource settings is required
    • Experience working with high-level champions or their teams and maintaining good relationships with diverse networks of people
