Construction Manager at IITA - International Institute of Tropical Agriculture

DUTIES: 

• Lead and coordinate overall functions & staff of Construction including plumbing, carpentry, masonry, painting and quantity surveying sections.
• Maintain open and effective communication with project stakeholders, including architects, engineers, subcontractors and clients.
• Supervise and develop staff to deliver services in an efficient and effective manner.
• Place order for materials needed for construction projects, etc.
• Manage a large housing estate of houses/ apartments on campus.
• Prepare work schedules and outline work assignments.
• Assist in preparing technical feasibility studies and cost estimates on new projects.
• Oversee construction projects and liaise on infrastructure, equipment, and cost estimates on new projects.
• Manage resources such as materials, tools, and manpower efficiently.
• Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries on the job site.
• Prepare monthly chargeback statements.
• Prepare quarterly report of work done by the sections.
• Perform any other job-related duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

QUALIFICATION:

BSc/HND in Civil Engineering or any other related field with a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience performing a similar role in a well-structured environment. Possession of relevant higher qualifications will be an added advantage. Also, membership of Council of registered engineering (COREN) is required.
