Job Summary

• Sharperly Limited is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Compliance Officer to ensure adherence to all regulatory, legal, and internal policy requirements across multiple jurisdictions. The Compliance Officer will design, implement, and monitor compliance frameworks, manage regulatory reporting, advise management on legal and compliance risks, and build strong relationships with regulators and stakeholders.
• The role requires solid knowledge of fintech compliance, including AML, CTF, KYC, data protection, remittance, and payment services regulations, as well as experience in legal and risk management.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret financial, legal, and regulatory requirements across all countries of operation.
• Develop, implement, and oversee compliance frameworks, processes, and internal controls.
• Prepare and submit timely and accurate regulatory filings, returns, and reports to authorities.
• Identify and assess legal risks associated with business operations and develop mitigation strategies.
• Develop, review, and update internal compliance and legal policies, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and business objectives.
• Communicate changes in laws and regulations to management and relevant teams, ensuring prompt implementation.
• Oversee KYC, AML, and due diligence processes for onboarding and monitoring clients.
• Advise on emerging regulatory and legal risks affecting fintech, remittances, and payments.
• Review and negotiate contracts with vendors, partners, and stakeholders to ensure compliance with legal standards and company objectives.
• Assist in managing legal disputes, including negotiation, mediation, or litigation support.
• Represent the company’s compliance and legal interests with regulators, auditors, and in relevant proceedings.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with regulatory authorities and industry bodies.
• Provide compliance training and awareness programs for employees across departments.
• Investigate, document, and report compliance breaches or suspicious activities.
• Ensure compliance with data protection, consumer protection, and cross-border financial regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (professional compliance certifications such as CAMS, ICA, or CCEP preferred).
• 3+ years’ experience in compliance, risk, or legal functions within fintech, financial services, or payments industry.
• Strong knowledge of AML, CTF, KYC, GDPR/data protection, and financial regulations.
• Proven experience in designing and implementing compliance frameworks and monitoring systems.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to train staff and present findings to management and regulators.
• High ethical standards and ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
