    Communications and Media Manager

    • We are a leading development consulting organisation committed to driving sustainable social and enterprise development through innovative, evidence-based solutions. We are seeking an experienced and strategic Communications and Media Manager to lead the organisation's communications function. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing integrated communication strategies that strengthen the organisation's visibility, enhance stakeholder engagement, showcase programme impact, support business development, and position the organisation as a recognised thought leader within Nigeria and internationally.

    Responsibilities

    Strategic Communications

    • Develop and implement the organisation's communications and visibility strategy aligned with Corporate and project strategy and business development priorities.
    • Lead integrated communication campaigns that enhance visibility, stakeholder engagement and thought leadership.
    • Provide strategic communications support to management and project teams.
    • Develop annual communications workplans, budgets and performance indicators.

    Content Development and Knowledge Management

    • Lead the production of high-quality communication products, including annual reports, impact stories, case studies, newsletters, policy briefs, press releases, website content and social media materials.
    • Translate technical programme information into compelling content for diverse audiences.
    • Strengthen organisational knowledge management by documenting project results, lessons learned and success stories.
    • Provide guidance and support to team members regarding communication strategies, messaging, and best practices.
    • Stay updated on emerging communication technologies and tools to enhance project communication efforts.

    Media, Branding and Digital Communications

    • Lead media relations and build strategic partnerships with journalists and media organisations.
    • Manage the organisation's website, digital platforms and social media presence.
    • Ensure consistent branding across all corporate and project communication materials.
    • Monitor digital performance and recommend improvements using analytics and audience insights.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information and insights to create accurate and impactful communications materials.

    Stakeholder Engagement and Business Development

    • Support communication and visibility for donor-funded programmes and ensure compliance with donor branding guidelines.
    • Coordinate communication for conferences, workshops, webinars and public events.
    • Manage media relations by building and maintaining relationships with journalists, bloggers, and relevant media outlets.
    • Monitor industry trends and news to identify opportunities for thought leadership and proactive communication.
    • Support proposal development through organisational profiles, capability statements, presentations and communication inputs.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with government, donors, partners, private sector actors and other key stakeholders.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Mass Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or a related field. A Master's degree is an added advantage.
    • Minimum of 7 years' progressive experience in communications, media or public relations, including at least 3years in a leadership role.
    • Demonstrated experience in development consulting, donor-funded programmes or international development organisations.
    • Proven experience developing communication strategies, managing integrated campaigns and engaging with the media.
    • Experience supporting business development, knowledge management and donor visibility initiatives is desirable.

    Required Competencies

    • Excellent writing, editing and storytelling skills.
    • Strong understanding of strategic communications, branding and stakeholder engagement.
    • Proficiency in digital communication tools, website content management systems, social media management platforms, Google Analytics, Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite or Canva.
    • Strong project management, organisational and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality outputs under tight deadlines.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
