Chinese Translator at OPay

Role Overview

We are seeking a fluent and professional Chinese Translator to facilitate seamless communication between our Chinese stakeholders and our local teams. The ideal candidate will be a linguistic bridge, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and cultural sensitivity across all interactions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide real-time interpretation during meetings, calls, and presentations between Chinese and English-speaking stakeholders.
• Translate documents, reports, emails, and official correspondence accurately between Mandarin/Cantonese and English.
• Support Chinese expatriate staff with day-to-day communication needs.
• Ensure cultural nuances are properly conveyed in all translations.
• Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive business information.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth cross-cultural communication.
• Review and proofread translated materials for accuracy and consistency.

Requirements

• Bachelor\'s degree in Chinese Language, Linguistics, Translation, or a related field.
• HSK Level 5 or 6 certification (or equivalent proficiency).
• 2–4 years of experience in a translation or interpretation role.
• Experience in a fintech, banking, or corporate environment is an advantage.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in both Mandarin and English.
• High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
• Cantonese proficiency is an added advantage.
