The COO will be responsible for overseeing the company’s ongoing operations, ensuring seamless execution of business strategies, and driving operational efficiency.
This role requires a strong leader with a proven track record in fintech or digital lending, operational scaling, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership: Oversee daily operations across all business functions, including credit risk management, customer experience, product delivery, and technology integration.
Strategy Execution: Translate the company’s strategic vision into actionable operational plans with measurable KPIs.
Process Optimization: Develop, implement, and monitor efficient operational systems, processes, and best practices that align with growth targets.
Risk & Compliance: Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, data protection laws, and industry best practices for lending and financial services.
Technology & Innovation: Collaborate with the CTO/Product team to optimize lending platforms, improve automation, and enhance customer experience.
Team Leadership: Mentor and develop department heads; foster a high-performance, results-driven culture.
Financial Stewardship: Partner with the CFO to manage budgets, optimize cost structures, and ensure operational profitability.
Stakeholder Management: Maintain strong relationships with investors, regulators, vendors, and key partners.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field (MBA preferred).
Minimum 10 years’ experience in financial services, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within fintech, digital lending, or banking.
Strong knowledge of credit risk management, digital lending platforms, and loan portfolio management.
Proven ability to scale operations in a high-growth, tech-driven environment.
Excellent leadership, people management, and decision-making skills.
Strong understanding of data analytics, KPIs, and operational metrics.
Experience managing compliance with CBN regulations (or relevant local financial regulatory body) is a plus.
