    Category Manager

    JOB SUMMARY

    The Category Manager is responsible for the overall promotion of the company’s beauty product category to maximize consumer appeal, deepening relationships with vendors, making decisions about which products to sell, assisting with marketing and promotion, overseeing inventory, managing aged stock, brand budget and managing a cross-functional team.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Work with the sales and brand team to develop yearly brand plan on assigned brands that will communicate the brand to consumers in order to achieve organizational goals
    • Monitor and control the execution of approved brand plan
    • Regularly analyze customer requirements in the stores to target buying habits and develop product promotional strategies to achieve sales goals
    • Ensure implementation and coordination of all brand marketing campaigns / sales activation.
    • Responsible for driving growth by supervising brand activities.
    • Responsible for growing market share of all products within each category portfolio
    • Responsible for the achievement of overall category growth, brand plans and sales target
    • Work with the sales and brand team on the sales target and strategy for the beauty product category- get approval from Management and monitor its implementation
    • Execute category plans, and monitor performance to meet revenue goals
    • Work closely with sales team to ensure analysis and communication is consistent with company expectations and strategy
    • Interact with Customers to develop long-term and trusted relationships with them
    • Carry out regular visit to key partners and distributors outlets and report feedback
    • Carry out market visits to customers on a regular basis to have a feel of the market situation and report feedback to management.
    • Head product innovation - Decode Consumer Insights & anticipate trends to breakthrough products
    • Follow up on the entire product development process
    • Evaluation of potential new product, market acceptability, business case evaluation, and recommendation to management.
    • Make forecasts for product demand, manage inventory levels to maximize sales
    • Place appropriate orders to ensure product availability meets consumer demands
    • Periodic review of inventory level for the purpose of re-ordering, inter-warehouse transfers, and aged stock control & management
    • Prepare regular reports to company suppliers.
    • Generate accurate and valuable reports and trend analysis for the management
    • File periodic sales and marketing reports to brand owners as may be required. Constant interface and communication with brand owners regarding the in-market sales and marketing of the various brands
    • Assist in developing presentations that highlight category performance and identify key growth opportunities.

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • BSc/HND degree from any accredited Institution. An MBA will be an added advantage
    • Minimum of 7 years marketing experience
    • Proven experience as category manager or similar role, experience with beauty products desirable
    • Solid knowledge of category management, marketing and sales principles
    • Understanding of data analysis and forecasting methods.
