    Cashier

    CASHIER KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Process customer purchases accurately and efficiently using the POS (Point of Sale) system.
    • Handle cash, card (debit/credit), and transfer payments with full accuracy, zero tolerance for discrepancies.
    • Balance the till at the start and close of every shift, reconciling all transactions and reporting any variances immediately.
    • Issue correct receipts on all transactions and ensure accurate change is given at all times.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and professionally presented checkout area throughout the shift.
    • Greet every customer warmly and ensure a smooth, pleasant, and efficient checkout experience.
    • Identify and promptly report pricing discrepancies, barcode errors, or any suspicious transactions to the Supervisor.
    • Prepare and submit accurate end-of-shift transaction and cash summary reports.
    • Strictly comply with all cash-handling policies, financial controls, anti-fraud measures, and audit procedures.
    • Manage customer queues courteously, ensuring waiting times are minimized and customers are attended to in order.
    • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all financial, transactional, and customer information.
    • Support stock counting, periodic audits, and other assigned operational tasks as directed.
    • Escalate customer concerns at the checkout point to the Supervisor promptly and professionally.

    CASHIER REQUIREMENTS

    • Minimum qualification: SSCE / OND / NCE. A B.Sc. or HND particularly in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is a strong advantage.
    • Must reside in Lekki, Ajah, or immediate environs. This is a strict and non-negotiable requirement.
    • Excellent spoken and written English; clear, confident, and professional communication is required.
    • Smart, neat, and professional appearance must be maintained at all times.
    • Exceptional numerical accuracy and strong attention to detail. errors in cash handling are not acceptable.
    • Impeccable integrity and personal honesty, financial trustworthiness is the most critical requirement for this role.
    • Prior experience operating a POS system or working in a cashier, teller, or financial handling role is a strong advantage.
    • Calm, composed, and patient especially during peak trading hours and high customer volumes.
    • Reliable and punctual, comfortable working rotating shifts including weekends and public holidays.
    • Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
    • Basic computer literacy; familiarity with retail or billing software is an added advantage.
