Captain at ValueJet

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

The Captain shall take full responsibility for the entire operation and safety of the airplane from the moment the airplane for a flight until the moment the airplane finally comes to rest at the end of the flight and the main engines are shut down;

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Be responsible for the safety of all crew members, passengers, and cargo on board, as soon as he/she arrives on board until he/she leaves the airplane at the end of the flight.
• Ensure checklists are complied with.
• Holds the legal authority to give all commands he deems necessary for securing the safety of the airplane and of persons or property carried therein.
• Has the authority to disembark any person, or any part of the cargo, which in his opinion, may represent a potential hazard to the safety of the airplane or its occupants.
• Maintain familiarity with relevant regulatory authority’s air legislation and agreed aviation practices and procedures.
• Maintain familiarity with the provisions of the Company Operations Manual as necessary to fulfill his function;
• Make use of the operator`s occurrence reporting scheme.
• Shall ensure that a planned succession of command to the next senior flight crew member is defined.
• Ensure standard verbiage, terminology, signals, and/or verbal commands are used for communication between flight crew and cabin crew during normal, abnormal, and emergency situations. .
• Ensure the licenses of each crew member have been issued or rendered valid by the State of Registry, contain the proper ratings, and that all flight crew members have maintained recency of experience.

QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE

• The minimum requirements for a Captain to operate in ValueJet are:
• Must have experience on CRJ 900, CRJ 700, CRJ 200
• Valid Class 1 Medical;
• Flying time of:
• Minimum Command Time-2,000
• Total Flight Hours-5,000
• CRJ Type Rating is an added advantage.
