QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Education

• Higher National Diploma (HND) in a relevant technical, aviation, engineering, environmental, or industrial field is preferred.
• National Diploma (ND) is acceptable only if supported by strong relevant experience and demonstrated supervisory capability.

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years experience in aircraft appearance, aircraft cabin cleaning, or equivalent large industrial cleaning environment (such as aviation ground handling, transportation, manufacturing, oil & gas facilities, or other regulated industrial operations), with at least 1 year in a supervisory or team-lead role.
• Aircraft experience is an advantage but not mandatory.

Training & Certifications

Mandatory (Before or Shortly After Appointment):

• Basic Safety Awareness (Industrial or Aviation)
• Industrial Safety / HSE certification (HSE Level 1–3 or equivalent)
• Valid Nigerian Driver’s License (or transferable foreign license)

Mandatory After Appointment (Internal / Company Training):

• Human Factors (Aviation) – Initial and recurrent
• Aviation Safety Management System (SMS) Awareness

Required Competency (Through Experience and/or Internal Training):

• Aircraft cabin appearance standards
• Aircraft cleaning procedures and approved chemical usage
• Cabin inspection, defect reporting, and work-order processes

Job Responsibilities

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage and administer all aircraft appearance activities during assigned shifts.
• Carry out cabin appearance inspections and surveys and raise work orders for corrective action and closure.
• Supervise aircraft turnaround cleaning, deep cleaning, and scheduled refurbishment activities to ensure compliance with approved standards.
• Ensure preventive maintenance and refurbishment programs are executed using approved materials, tools, and cleaning agents.
• Coordinate and supervise company staff and outsourced cleaning personnel to ensure consistent appearance standards.
• Ensure correct chemicals are used, mixed in approved proportions, and handled in accordance with safety procedures to prevent aircraft damage or personnel injury.
• Ensure availability and serviceability of all appearance equipment, tools, vehicles, and cleaning materials.
• Identify, requisition, and control aircraft cleaning materials, tools, and consumables.
• Ensure compliance with approved Work Instructions, SOPs, and safety procedures; immediately address and correct any non-compliance.
• Ensure adequate cabin amenities are available during aircraft cleaning activities.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders regarding task status, progress, and issues.
• Report incidents, accidents, and hazards in accordance with Company Safety Management System (SMS) procedures.
• Adhere to Company Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) policies.
• Supervise, coach, and develop Aircraft Appearance Attendants to improve competency, efficiency, and safety awareness.
