Business Support Officer at IITA - International Institute of Tropical Agriculture

Description

• We are seeking a suitable Nigerian Nationals for the positions below at the Institute’s headquarter in Ibadan.

Duties

• Conduct assessment on community business opportunities tailored for youth, women, and vulnerable groups.
• Conduct market assessments to evaluate the financial viability of proposed agricultural enterprises.
• Conduct skills gap assessments for onboarded youth and women groups.
• Support program partners in organizing entrepreneurial and business training for youths at the nurseries and demonstration fields.
• Collaborate with program partners in the creation of youth and women led businesses in targeted rural communities.
• Provide field updates to assist in preparing project progress reports and strategic planning for agricultural initiatives.
• Guide young entrepreneurs in drafting basic agribusiness plans and value chain models.
• Conduct enterprise verification exercises to evaluate program compliance and impact.
• Perform any other job-related task as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Requirements

• BSc/HND in Agriculture or related field with a minimum of two (2) years’ experience providing Agribusiness project or program support in a well-structured environment.

• Have basic financial literacy with the capacity to support youth and women in record keeping, business planning, and enterprise development.
• Have excellent communication, problem-solving, and innovative thinking skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in diverse teams and meet targets under pressure.
• Be detail-oriented, with the ability to work in varying weather conditions and undertake regular in-country travel.
