Main Function
The Business Manager will oversee the operational, financial, and strategic aspects of the farm’s business. This includes ensuring efficient day-to-day operations, increasing profitability, identifying growth opportunities, and building strong relationships with clients, vendors, and stakeholders. The role also involves managing a diverse team to ensure the farm achieves its production, marketing, and financial goals.
Role Responsibilities
Strategic Planning and Business Growth
- Develop and implement business strategies to drive revenue growth and profitability.
- Identify new market opportunities and expansion prospects for farm products.
- Analyze market trends, competitors, and customer demands to inform decision-making.
- Prepare short-term and long-term business plans for approval by the Managing Director.
Operations Management
- Oversee daily farm operations, ensuring all processes run efficiently and meet quality standards.
- Monitor production schedules and ensure timely delivery of products to customers.
- Collaborate with Farm Supervisors to optimize resource utilization, including land, equipment, and manpower.
- Ensure compliance with agricultural regulations, safety protocols, and environmental standards.
Financial Management
- Develop and manage the farm’s budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
- Monitor financial performance, including sales, expenses, and profitability, providing regular reports to the Managing Director.
- Negotiate contracts with vendors, suppliers, and customers to maximize profitability.
- Oversee the collection of payments and ensure timely invoicing.
Sales and Marketing
- Collaborate with the Sales and Marketing team to design and implement promotional campaigns.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, distributors, and retailers.
- Represent the farm at trade shows, agricultural exhibitions, and community events to promote its products.
- Expand the farm’s customer base by exploring new sales channels and partnerships.
Team Leadership and Development
- Lead, mentor, and manage farm staff, ensuring high levels of productivity and morale.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and identify training needs.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Risk Management and Problem Solving
- Identify potential risks to farm operations and develop mitigation strategies.
- Resolve operational issues and conflicts in a timely and effective manner.
Reporting and Communication
- Prepare and present detailed reports on operational and financial performance.
- Act as the primary point of contact for external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities and suppliers.
Qualifications
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years in a business management role in the agricultural sector.
- Proven track record of managing farm operations or similar businesses successfully.
