    Business Development Manager

    Job Function:

    • To grow the business through successful selling of logistics services and/or products that fit the client /customer needs thus contributing to operational effectiveness, client/customer satisfaction and company profitability.

    Key performance areas:

    • Establish relationships with new prospects and secure contracts with new customers.
    • Drive the entire sales cycle from prospecting to account development.
    • Identifies and closes business prospects and leads that promote revenue and profit growth.
    • Proposes competitive logistics solutions to prospects, leads and client needs.
    • Take the lead in responding to prospect/client RFIs and RFQs in collaboration with all the internal stakeholders.
    • Meets and exceeds set revenue and profit targets.
    • Develops and maintains close, strategic relationships with key clients and prospects.
    • Technically position the company’s products versus the competition.
    • Collaborating with internal departments to always provide excellent customer service.
    • Develop and maintain functional knowledge of the products, services and operations offered by the company. Interact regularly with departmental and operations managers and develop close and cooperative working relationship with to ensure the customer’s needs are met.
    • Define, regularly review, and build a pipeline of target prospects.
    • Pursue and secure target opportunities from the defined target customer list.
    • Coordinate and engagement of sales activities with key stakeholders within the company.
    • Lead the pricing/quotation function of the business.
    • Execute any other task(s) assigned by the line manager.

    Qualifications required:

    • University Degree in Business Management.

    Skills and experience required:

    • At least five (5) years of demonstrable achievement in selling in freight, customs clearing and or general logistics products.
    • Excellent communication & presentation skills
    • Ability to develop, implement and monitor Product/trade lane (Air and Ocean)
    • A self-starter, able to take initiative and work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Hands on experience with sales CRM software
    • Thorough understanding of the selling process
    • Good background in insightful sales
    • Ability to initiate high level commercial relationships
    • Strong ability to develop winning customer value propositions.
    • Thorough knowledge & understanding of the East Africa logistics market (Air and Ocean)
    • Confident, energetic, agile, competent, and innovative
    • Proven sales result.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player.
    • Excellent organizing, planning, and negotiation skills.
