The Position
- The Bursar is the Chief Financial Officer of the University and shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the administration, coordination, and control of the financial affairs of the University.
- The ideal candidate must demonstrate impeccable integrity, transparency, accountability, and sound financial leadership.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Bursar shall:
- Oversce all financial management operations of the University.
- Coordinate budgeting, financial planning, accounting, treasury functions, and reporting
- Ensure efficient management of revenue, investments, grants, and expenditure control.
- Maintain accurate records of assets, liabilities, funds, and financial transactions.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, internal controls, and audit requirements. Provide periodie financial report: and expert financial advice to the Vice-Chancellor and
- Governing Council.
- Supervise and develop staff in the Bursary Department. vilt. Perform any other duties as may be assigned under the University Law.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications:
- A good first degree in Accounting, Finance, Economies, or a related discipline from a recognized university.
- Full membership of a recognized professional accounting body such as ICAN, ANAN, or an equivalent.
- A minimum of 15 years cognate post-qualification experience, and must not be below the rank of Deputy Bursar, preferably in a university or similar tertiary institution.
- Demonstrable capacity for strategie financial leadership.
- Proven integrity, excellent character, and sound judgment.
- Strong ICT competence and familiarity with moder financial management systems. vii. Candidate must be in good health and not older than 60 years at the time of assumption of duty.
Tenure:
- The successful candidate shall hold office as Bursar for an initial term of five(5) years with the possibility of an extension for up to five (5) more years, subject to performance evaluation and such other tenns and conditions as may be specified in the letter of appointment.
Salaries and Allowances
- Chrisland University operates a salary structure and conditions of service comparable to what obtains in the Nigerian University System.
