    Brand Designer

    About the role

    Imagine 15 years from now, what does it look like to be one of the brains behind one of Nigeria’s FinTech brands? It’s pretty similar to what you see with Apple or CocaCola. We know they are common examples but that’s what we are trying to build with Bloc — a brand strengthened by community and represented with a strong identity.

    In this role, we need someone who can think of Bloc this way — a visionary, someone who can dream. Someone who’s fearless with experimentation and isn’t afraid of adventures; can play with constraints and discover different ways to bring the brand to life with design (whether through visuals, writing, experience and any more).

    What you’ll do

    • Work with the Brand & Marketing team on the full Bloc architecture (with all of its subsidiaries).
    • Join a small team of designers in the Brand & Marketing team who shape everything regarding the brand — websites, social media, templates, internal communications and much more.
    • Craft every detail of brand projects, from ideation through to delivery. This ranges from a brand refresh, website page, custom gift, billboard, etc.
    • Lead and creatively direct external agencies, collaborators and vendors (print, logistics, etc).
    • Actively contribute to the look and feel of projects going on in the company across other departments to bring a level of extraordinary to every thing we ship.
    • Learn about our products, employees and users to help curate experiences that will deepen their relationship with us.
    • Co-develop systems and standards that will help teams across the company access and independently use the assets they need to tell their own stories on behalf of the company.
    • Think of new ways to tell the Bloc story — show them what the brand stands for, what they can expect from the product experience and what it means for them.

    Skills you need

    • Incredible craftsmanship. Willingness to see the work you create translate into results.
    • Can work with a team. You understand that you are only as good as your team, and are committed to making the team successful.
    • 3+ years of design experience, preferably in an agency or in-house.
    • A keen eye for design excellence. You know what good design is, and understands what it takes to make it great.
    • A keen understanding of brand and brand design. You understand the importance of brand and know how to express it properly through design. You also know the significant difference between brand design and graphic design.
    • Excellent visual design and typography skills, plus an obsessive attention to detail.
    • A big fan of visual communication. You understand how to use design to tell stories and inspire people.
    • Can manage projects and be creative within deadlines. You know how to create the balance between giving space to iterate, and getting things shipped.

    Stand out with ...

    • A passion for documentation. You know how to write, and can write well.
    • Practical experience with the following skills: motion design, 3D design, illustrations, copywriting
    • Experience creating (or working with) brand documentation, style guides, and standards.
    • A hunger for rapid growth and development. You have desire to manage critique, review work, teach others and work with partners with different perspectives
    • A strong portfolio showcasing work across a range of mediums.
