    Blaster

    Responsibilites

    • Set up and operate abrasive blasting equipment, including blast pots, hoses, and nozzles.
    • Select and use the correct abrasive media based on project specifications and surface requirements.
    • Perform surface preparation through abrasive blasting to achieve the specified cleanliness and surface profile.
    • Ensure all surfaces are free from rust, old coatings, and other contaminants before the coating application.
    • Maintain all blasting equipment in good working condition and report any defects or issues immediately.
    • Work in coordination with Painters and Coating Inspectors to ensure seamless project flow.
    • Participate in pre-job risk assessments and toolbox talks to ensure all safety measures are understood and followed.
    • Adhere to all safety protocols, including working with permits to work, and using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including a full-face respirator.
    • Assist in the maintenance of detailed records of work performed, including abrasive usage and surface preparation results.

    Requirements

    • A relevant professional certification in abrasive blasting is required.
    • A minimum of 8 years of experience as a Blaster, with at least 5 years specifically in an offshore oil and gas environment, with a proven track record of working on the Bonga FPSO.
    • Proven experience with abrasive blasting for maintenance, construction, and turnaround projects.
    • The candidate must hold valid offshore certifications such as BOSIET, OSP, and a valid medical certificate.
    • This position requires working in a challenging offshore industrial environment on platforms or vessels.
    • Strong proficiency in abrasive blasting techniques and equipment operation.
    • Thorough knowledge of different types of abrasive media and their applications.
    • Ability to achieve specified surface cleanliness and profile standards.
    • Excellent attention to detail for producing high-quality work.
    • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
    • Willingness to work in a demanding offshore environment.
