Backend Developer (Laravel & React) at NextPayDay

• We’re looking for a Backend Developer (Laravel & React) to join our Dev Team. This role is critical in powering the systems behind our mobile and web applications, ensuring seamless performance and reliability for our users.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend systems using Laravel
• Build, manage, and optimize RESTful APIs that power our mobile and web platforms
• Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate React.js features and ensure smooth data flow
• Implement and maintain database schemas, queries, and migrations (MySQL/PostgreSQL)
• Write clean, efficient, and well-structured code with proper documentation for every feature, function, and API
• Enforce best practices in security, authentication, and authorization (JWT, OAuth, etc.)
• Conduct thorough testing, debugging, and performance tuning
• Participate in code reviews, CI/CD workflows, and version control (Git)
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and propose improvements to enhance system efficiency and scalability
• Work closely with product, design, and mobile teams to ship impactful features on time

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 2+ years proven experience in backend or full-stack development
• Strong hands-on experience with Laravel (PHP framework)
• Working knowledge of React.js for frontend integration
• Proficiency in REST APIs, database management (MySQL/PostgreSQL), and query optimization
• Familiarity with Git and collaborative workflows (branching, pull requests, code reviews)
• Understanding of server-side security practices and data protection standards
• Ability to write and maintain detailed documentation for all code and system processes
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and in a collaborative remote team
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, DigitalOcean, or similar) is an advantage
