Backend AI Engineer (Financial Services Platform) at TeKnowledge

Overview

• We're seeking Backend Engineers to build backend services for a financial platform, layered on top of existing core systems.
• Development is performed using an AI-first model (Claude Code and Agentic AI tools), with strong ownership of system design, implementation, and validation.
• This is an individual contributor role within the Product Development team, supporting global functions and reporting to the Head of Product Development.
• As a Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for building scalable, secure, and high-performance backend services and APIs that power the Monifai platform. 
• You will work with modern cloud-native architectures, AI-assisted development tools, and financial services systems, designing service layers and integration services on top of core banking platforms. 
• The ideal candidate brings strong backend engineering expertise, experience with distributed systems and cloud technologies, and a passion for leveraging AI tools to accelerate software development.

Responsibilities

• Build backend services and APIs on top of existing core systems.
• Develop systems using AI-assisted coding tools, including Claude Code.
• Design and implement:
• Service layers above core banking systems.
• Integration services connecting internal and external platforms.
• Manage data flows and system interactions across multiple services.
• Ensure system scalability, performance, reliability, and security.
• Develop and maintain APIs and microservices-based solutions.
• Design and implement event-driven and messaging-based integrations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality platform capabilities.
• Validate system designs and solutions through testing and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required
• Master's Degree preferred
• High School Diploma required
• Technical Degree required
• Experience: 5–9 years

Technical Skills:

• Strong backend development experience with .NET, Node.js, and/or Python.
• Strong experience with:
• APIs and microservices.
• Distributed systems.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
• Experience using AI tools for software development.

Platform & Architecture Skills (Mandatory):

• Experience or strong understanding of:
• Operational Data Stores (ODS).
• Event-driven architecture.
• Messaging systems (queues, pub/sub).
• Document handling and storage.
• Identity and Access Management (IAM).

Domain Experience:

• Financial services systems, including lending, payments, and fintech platforms.
• Transaction processing systems.
• Integrations with external services such as AML, KYC, and PSP providers.

Technology Environment:

• Cloud: Azure.
• Architecture:
• APIs and microservices.
• Event-driven systems.
• Messaging-based integrations.

Languages:

• Professional proficiency in English.
• Professional proficiency in the local language.
