We are seeking a highly experienced and process-driven Automobile Fabrication Manager to lead the end-to-end fabrication and body-building operations for our Three-Wheeler (3W) product line.
The ideal candidate will have a solid background in automotive fabrication, sheet metal forming, welding processes, and jig & fixture design, ensuring high-quality output through strong leadership, planning, and process optimization.
Key Responsibilities
Manage complete fabrication operations for 3W product chassis and body systems including frame welding, forming, trimming, and sub-assembly integration.
Lead a team of fabrication technicians and supervisors ensuring productivity, quality, and safety targets.
Coordinate with Design, R&D, Quality, and Production Planning to ensure DFM (Design for Manufacturing) practices and timelines are met.
Oversee tooling development – including jigs, fixtures, and dies for welding and assembly operations.
Maintain and optimize welding procedures (MIG/TIG/Spot), CNC cutting, and bending processes.
Monitor fabrication KPIs – yield, cycle time, rework %, and lead-time – and drive continuous improvement (Kaizen, Lean, Six Sigma).
Implement and ensure compliance with ISO/TS 16949, IATF 16949, or similar quality systems within the fabrication shop.
Drive adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards as per industry norms.
Conduct regular training and upskilling programs for technicians and operators.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in Mechanical/Automobile Engineering or related discipline.
6–10 years of relevant experience in fabrication & body shop operations, ideally in a 3-wheeler or light commercial vehicle segment.
Strong technical knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, welding processes, robotic welding (preferred), and structural assembly.
Experience with fabrication CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and familiarity with ERP and MES systems.
Proven leadership, team management, and communication skills.
Familiarity with quality assurance tools like FMEA, SPC, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), PPAP.
Preferred:
Experience with 3-wheeler chassis or composite body manufacturing.
Certifications in Welding Inspection, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt).
Hands-on experience in setting up new fabrication lines or automation cells.
