Job Summary
The Auto Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical components and systems of vehicles within the automobile manufacturing facility. The role supports production, testing, maintenance, and after-sales operations to ensure vehicles meet required operational and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Maintenance & Repairs
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical faults in vehicles and related systems.
- Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension systems, steering systems, and other mechanical components.
- Replace defective parts and ensure proper installation of mechanical components.
- Conduct routine servicing and maintenance checks on vehicles.
Technical Troubleshooting
- Identify mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and technical procedures.
- Interpret technical manuals, repair guides, and engineering specifications.
- Test vehicles after repairs to ensure proper functionality and performance.
Production & Assembly Support
- Support vehicle assembly and production processes when required.
- Assist in installation and alignment of mechanical systems during production.
- Work closely with electrical, fabrication, and quality control teams.
Quality Assurance
- Ensure all repairs and installations comply with company quality standards and specifications.
- Maintain accurate service and repair records.
- Report recurring mechanical issues and recommend corrective measures.
Health, Safety & Housekeeping
- Comply with company HSE policies and workshop safety regulations.
- Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during operations.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper organization of tools and work areas.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum of OND/Trade Test Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Technology, or related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ practical experience as an Auto Mechanic in an automobile or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle mechanical systems and repair techniques.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and workshop equipment effectively.
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals and repair instructions.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
