    Associate,Investment Banking

    Our client is a leading investment management firm in Nigeria, four core business areas; Investment Banking, Asset Management, Securities Trading and Investment Research. The company deploys a full range of capital raising and financial advisory services to meet the needs of corporate and institutional clients. They are currently engaged in several high profile transactions in Agriculture, Power, Oil & Gas, Technology and Financial Services. An opportunity has now arisen for an experienced Associate, Investment Banking.

    Job Profile

    The client is looking to hire an experienced Associates in Investment Banking who will be principally responsible for day-to-day operations of the company and execution of clients’ transactions across these industries.

    Key Responsibilities

    The primary role of an Associate is to support the Head of Investment Banking and other Vice Presidents to structure and execute transactions. Other duties include:

    • Structure and execute clients’ mandates/transactions
    • Build simple and complex financial models and valuation analyses
    • Provide advice and solutions to strategic problems and assist clients in achieving short-term and long-term strategic objectives
    • Supervise the collation of relevant financial data for transaction analysis
    • Guide and provide leadership to Interns and Analysts in acquisition of technical and essential skills/knowledge required for mandate execution
    • Manage performance of junior members including Interns and Analysts by delegating and reviewing their work while promoting a culture of collaboration in the team
    • Guide and supervise Interns and Analysts in building simple and complex models, valuation and in-depth quantitative analyses in connection with clients’ mandates
    • Coordinate and participate in preparing pitch books, prospectus and other marketing materials including information memoranda, management and Board presentations
    • Support the Head of Investment Banking in prospecting for new clients and maintaining relationships with existing ones
    • Work with and maintain cordial relationship with counterparties including investors, regulators, clients, external financial, consultants, legal advisors etc.
    • Continuously analyze the Company's competitive environment by gathering intelligence on investors and competition
    • Work with seniors and other team members to ensure cost and revenue budget are met
    • Maintain thorough knowledge of current trends in various sectors of the economy
    • Adhere to and promote the firm’s core values of integrity, teamwork and entrepreneurship, and culture of innovation within team members

    Requirements

    • A Bachelors degree. A Masters (MBA, M Fin, CFA) will be an added advantage.
    • 6+ years’ investment banking experience in reputable investment banks with leadership/supervisory responsibilities
    • Relevant professional qualifications or certifications
    • Proven in-depth experience in the firm’s focus industries (Agriculture, Power, Oil & Gas, Technology, FMCG and Financial Services) and new product development areas (Project Finance or Structured Finance) will be a clear advantage
    • SEC sponsorship would be considered good advantage

    The ideal Candidate should be able to demonstrate:

    • Outstanding organizational and leadership skills
    • Ability to think strategically
    • Detail-oriented with strong critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making abilities
    • Top-notch skills in Microsoft Office suite particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Word
    • Excellent at financial modelling, valuation and financial statement analysis
    • Great communicator with excellent writing, verbal and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work collaboratively across a variety of projects simultaneously, multitask, take initiative, work independently and with others in a fast-paced, research driven environment
    • Very good understanding of the Nigerian capital markets, the Nigerian Securities and Exchange Commission rules and the Nigerian and global business environment
