    Associate, Communications and Media Relations

    Job Task

    • This position will report to the Communications Specialist and will support the demand creation and communications activities across programmes in the organization.
    • S/He will support the Communications department’s and organization’s engagements with relevant stakeholders including government agencies and media organizations.
    • This will require him/her to assist in the creation and dissemination of communications content and assets to publicize the organization’s achievements in a media-friendly format.
    • This person will also provide support to plan events such as conferences, press briefings, stakeholder engagements and workshops, including preparing the site for an event, arranging for banners and other graphics to be displayed at the event, and preparing packets of information to distribute to the media.

    Other Duties

    • Handling daily administrative tasks to ensure the department runs efficiently
    • Crafting clear, engaging, optimized written content for all mediums including web, print, newsletters and social media.
    • Liaising with relevant Programs team members to gather quality communications content such as success stories, pictures, activity updates and impact milestones.
    • Supporting the creation of high-quality communications assets such as photographs, videos, success stories, articles, press releases, infographics and presentations.
    • Coordinate photography and ensure visibility and visual documentation for all activities by APIN Public Health Initiatives, Government partners and funders as needed.
    • Support the regular and timely updates of the organization’s social media platforms, website and newsletters.
    • Support the dissemination of programme communication outputs widely among stakeholders.
    • Tracking the progress of communications campaign activities on social media, radio and television as needed.
    • Support editing and proofreading of articles, publications and ensure consistency in design of publications.
    • Support the planning and execution of events, meetings, conferences and outreaches.
    • Completing other duties as assigned by the organization

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Must possess a First Degree in Mass Communication, Public Relations, Digital Marketing or a related discipline. 
    • Must have a minimum of three (3) years’ professional experience in Communications and Media or Public Relations
    • Fluency in written and spoken English.
    • Experience and skill in graphic design, photo and video editing. Ability to take photos using a camera is an advantage.
    • Strong copywriting and editing skills, with demonstrated ability to construct clear sentences and understand grammar rules
    • Strong proficiency in communications tools and software, including but not limited to Microsoft Office tools, web design software specifically WordPress, Adobe Creative Cloud
    • Good knowledge of marketing concepts and principles, and understanding of social media channels and audiences.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to learn quickly
    • Ability to work alone and as part of the team
    • Ability to multitask, manage time efficiently, negotiate and meet deadlines
    • Highly motivated, energetic self-starter who can think and act self-sufficiently
