Assistant Manager, Database Development Administrator at eTranzact

Job Description

• Database Administrator is key resource in supporting all database systems in eTranzact. This is a mission critical support role and 24x7 production support experience is highly desirable.
• We are looking for 2-5 years experienced database administrator who will be responsible for managing various RDBMS such as MySQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and Sybase ASE including installation, design, configuration, upgrade, optimization, migration, replication/high availability and maintenance of database instances.
• Selected candidate will be responsible for the performance, integrity and security of our database (business critical OLTP and data warehouse). Candidate would also be involved in identifying bottleneck and troubleshooting any database related issues, provide solutions and support to internal stakeholders on database related task.

Responsibilities

• Installation and configuration of enterprise database instances
• Managing, monitoring and maintaining databases
• Optimize database performance and capacity planning
• Data modeling (Logical and Physical) and architecture
• Participate in Disk layout and Disk capacity planning.
• Implementing requested changes, updates and modifications to database structure and data
• Ensuring database integrity, stability and database system availability
• Patch and upgrade databases
• Maintain data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection Act
• Database Control access permissions and privileges
• Identify Bottle necks and provide solutions
• Develop, test, and implement back-up and recovery plans/strategies
• Maintain backup and recovery policies and procedures
• Manage and maintain data archival process
• Work closely with IT project managers, QA and developers
• Implement and maintain database security
• Implement database documentation, standards, processes, and procedures
• Implementation, maintaining and monitoring database high availability solutions
• Implementation of processes and controls to meet database security and compliance audit requirements for PCI DSS and ISO.

Qualifications

• Computer Science Degree or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 2 years in DBA role.
• 2 - 5 years DBA experience is a plus.
• Certified DBA is a PLU.

Skills:

• Proven experience in managing databases in production environment
• Well-rounded experience in backup and recovery solutions; off host and on host
• Demonstrated experience with database design, implementation, performance tuning, capacity planning, replication and high availability
• Development: T-SQL, Triggers and Stored procedure
• ETL and data warehouse capabilities (1-2 years) is a plus
• Oracle, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server experience (2 years) is a plus
• Proven knowledge of database internals and data structures
• Demonstrated capability to work in Unix/Linux environment
• Strong knowledge of building database administration processes and controls to meet security and compliance audit requirements for PCI DSS and ISO
• Excellent Problem-solving and good analytical skills
• Communication and teamwork skills
• Demonstrated competence in using main data manipulation languages and the principles of database design
• An understanding of information legislation, such as the Data Protection Act..
• Team player with excellent communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines/SLA agreements
